01 / Market coverageDigital-asset markets & infrastructure

New markets.
Material decisions.

CURRENT focuses on markets where structure, liquidity, infrastructure and regulation are still evolving—and where those mechanics materially affect investment and commercial outcomes.

The current view / 01

The venue is only
part of the market.

On Hyperliquid, as elsewhere, a position depends on its collateral, funding and exit conditions.

Measure the payment.
Not just the transfer.

The useful measure is when the recipient can use the funds, at what cost and with which dependencies.

The asset matters.
So does the claim.

A token's commercial value depends on the holder's rights, the servicing arrangements and a route to buyers.

The contract defines
the exposure.

Prediction markets should be assessed through contract terms, liquidity, resolution rules and participant access—not the headline probability alone.

Across our coverage, the underlying questions are consistent:

What exposure is being created?
Who can participate?
Where does liquidity come from?
How does the market operate?
Where do the investment, commercial and operating risks sit?

02 / CapabilitiesIndependent decision support for digital-asset markets

Analysis built around
the decision.

Evaluate an investment.
Select an access route.
Develop a commercial strategy.
Establish what happened.

Each mandate begins with a defined question and ends with a usable work product.

How we work

01

Evidence first.

Separate documented facts, working assumptions and judgment. State what supports the conclusion—and what would change it.

02

Decision relevance.

Tie the analysis to a specific investment, market, counterparty, product or partnership decision.

03

Defined responsibility.

CURRENT is paid by its clients for the work it undertakes. Fees and relevant conflicts of interest are agreed and disclosed before each engagement.

Agree scope, deliverables and timing before work begins.

Dennis DroushiotisFounder & PrincipalProfessional background ↗

More than a decade across digital-asset markets as an investor, operator, advisor and investigator.

Digital-asset portfolio management

Capital responsibility across changing markets.

Managed approximately $40M in client digital assets at peak, working across institutional, family-office and high-net-worth relationships.

The work included portfolio allocation, market assessment, trading and execution, liquidity and custody considerations, counterparty evaluation and digital-asset exposure across centralized and decentralized markets.

Institutional digital assets

Origination and transaction support.

Supported more than $100M in digital-asset transaction activity involving institutional investors, family offices, exchanges, OTC counterparties, liquidity providers and custodians.

Roles have included defining investment and commercial mandates, evaluating custody and liquidity options, assessing counterparties and supporting clients from market evaluation toward execution.

Founder & operator

Founded and led LenDeFi.

Founded and led LenDeFi, a decentralized-credit initiative that raised approximately $2M through SAFE financing.

Dennis led a 12-person team across product, engineering and operations, authored the whitepaper, developed the token economics and product specifications, and coordinated external engineering development.

Investigative & regulatory matters

Independent forensic support.

Provided blockchain-forensic and investigative support in digital-asset enforcement matters involving the CFTC.

The work included transaction tracing, wallet analysis, market reconstruction and evidentiary reporting, with an emphasis on testing explanations against the transaction record and documenting the limits of the evidence.

Commercial origination

Sourcing sellers in a fragmented ownership market.

Built the seller side of an institutional mineral-rights acquisition programme, sourcing approximately $250M in mineral rights that transacted across multiple shale basins.

Contacted more than 600 mineral owners and closed more than 40 acquisitions, supporting diligence and negotiation through to close.

06 / Engagement modelFrom scope to delivery

From question
to decision.

CURRENT works on defined investment, research, market-access, commercial-strategy and investigative mandates.

Each engagement has a specific objective, agreed work product and clear endpoint.

01 / Frame

THE CURRENT / Perspective
Market structure / Updated 29 September 2026

Hyperliquid.
Beyond the order book.

The next question in onchain derivatives is not just where to trade. It is how the position is funded, controlled and unwound.

FalconX's Hyperliquid offering brings portfolio-level financing across supported venues together with dedicated Fordefi wallets. It is one example of the services being built around onchain trading—not a service available to every trader.

CURRENT's view: better access does not make the underlying exposures simpler. Combining venues through a financing relationship can reduce fragmented collateral, but the financing terms, wallet controls and exit arrangements become part of the trade.

Two costs. Two clocks.

Perpetual funding and the cost of borrowing capital are different. Hyperliquid documents hourly funding transfers between long and short positions. A financing provider sets separate credit terms. A strategy that looks attractive before those costs may look different after them.

The timing matters too. A position can require additional collateral before cash elsewhere is available. The question is not only whether there is enough capital, but whether it can reach the right account when needed.

Know who can act.

For an individual, that means understanding wallet permissions, margin rules and the withdrawal path. For a firm, it also means knowing who can approve a transfer or reduce exposure outside normal working hours.

Before choosing a route, compare the full cost of holding the position, the conditions that can force it closed and the steps needed to withdraw. These questions matter even when the trading thesis is sound.

Assess the complete position: venue, collateral, financing and control. The exchange is only one part of it.

Settlement / Updated 29 September 2026

A stablecoin is not
a settlement strategy.

Measure a payment by when the recipient can use the money—not only when the blockchain confirms it.

Modern Treasury's April 2026 release integrated stablecoin transfers and fiat conversions into its payment-order and reconciliation workflows. That makes the relevant comparison more practical: which route best serves this payment?

CURRENT's view: integration moves the argument away from the token and toward the economics of the whole cash cycle. Network fees are only one cost. Conversion, liquidity, provider charges and failed-payment handling can determine whether the change is worthwhile.

Define the destination.

If the recipient wants stablecoins in a wallet, a bank payout may be irrelevant. If they need local currency to pay staff or suppliers, the transfer is only one leg of the journey.

Circle's documentation distinguishes minting, onchain transfer and redemption to a bank account. Each has its own steps and timing. A completed token transfer is not evidence that the final bank payment has arrived.

Test one real payment.

Choose a corridor, an amount and the asset the recipient needs. Compare the existing route with the proposed one on total cost, time to usable funds and the capital that must be available in advance.

Then test an exception: a rejected payout, an unavailable conversion provider or a reconciliation mismatch. Someone must own the resolution. A faster normal path is less valuable if exceptions become harder to fix.

A stablecoin route earns its place by improving a specific payment. Keeping the existing rail is a valid conclusion.

Tokenization / Updated 29 September 2026

Start with the claim.
Then the token.

Putting an asset onchain does not create a buyer, a redemption right or a liquid market.

In Centrifuge's 2026 survey of 150 industry operators, 86% put scaling distribution ahead of launching new products. This is operator opinion collected by an industry provider—not proof of investor demand. But it points to a commercial question worth asking before another asset is issued.

What does the holder actually get?

A token might represent a fund interest, a debt claim or another contractual right. Those structures are not interchangeable. The documents must explain the issuer, cash flows, transfer restrictions and what happens if a responsible party fails.

Technology can improve the record and automate parts of administration. It cannot substitute for understanding the claim. That needs to be clear before the product is marketed.

Transferable is not the same as liquid.

A token may move around the clock while buyers remain scarce or redemptions follow a separate schedule. Trading with another holder and redeeming with an issuer are different exit routes, with different conditions.

CURRENT's view: distribution belongs in product design, not in the launch checklist. Identify the intended holder, why this format is useful to them and how they can enter and exit. A credible route to buyers matters more than the number of networks on which a token appears.

Before asking “Can we tokenize it?”, answer “Who wants this claim, on these terms?”
