From original research to a paid institutional mandate.
Dennis Droushiotis originated and closed a paid advisory mandate with the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund through direct outreach.
A historical account of Dennis's role at Shale Intelligence. The fund is not presented as a current CURRENT client.
The business
Dennis co-founded and bootstrapped Shale Intelligence alongside Charles Constantinou, former Chief of the United Nations Natural Resources and Energy Investment Unit. The firm sold proprietary investment research and advisory access to hedge funds, pension funds, family offices and energy-sector clients.
Dennis's role
Dennis led institutional research sales and commercial strategy: identifying prospective clients, developing relationships, presenting investment theses and converting research into paid advisory work.
Through direct outreach, he originated and closed the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund mandate. Dennis and Constantinou advised the fund on global energy and natural-resources investments.
Building the organization
Dennis recruited Richard Kunes, former Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Estée Lauder Companies, as Shale's CFO and a member of its board.
He co-authored and commercialized more than 45 investment research reports covering U.S. shale, LNG, OPEC dynamics, commodities and geopolitical risk. Shale grew from zero to revenue without outside capital and served more than 100 paying clients.
The commercial result
The outcome was a paid institutional advisory relationship, supported by original research and direct coverage of the client's investment questions. The business-wide client, subscriber and publication figures above describe Shale's broader activity; they are not measures of the pension-fund engagement alone.
